Marko Stojiljković, a lecturer at the Oslo Metropolitan University, Faculty of Health Sciences, a specialist in pedagogical methods of medical simulations, visited the College of Professional Studies ICEPS. During the meeting, he had the opportunity to visit the school premises in Belgrade accompanied by Prof. PhD Srđan Stojanović, Director and Marija Papić, Education Quality and International Cooperation Coordinator, but also check the simulation on medical mannequins, organized and performed by Marija Todorović, Head of the Student Service of ICEPS in Novi Sad.

The meeting was organized by the ICEPS Administration in order to exchange experiences when it comes to the education of future health workers, especially nurses and technicians. An important part of the meeting was related to efficient and effective medical simulations, an artificial but faithful representation of real situations that medical workers encounter in health care institutions (blood collection, treatment of wounds, decubitus, care of bedridden patients with various medical conditions after surgery, etc.).

“It is extremely important to point out that ICEPS is among the few educational institutions in Serbia that provided students with the opportunity to acquire first-hand knowledge and develop skills by performing “classroom practice“ on medical mannequins. This is a modern approach to practice that allows students to go through real-life situations by simulating them in a safe way and thereby adequately prepare for contact with patients, especially for students coming from non-medical high schools”, said Marija Papić, Education Quality and International Cooperation Coordinator of ICEPS.

Thanks to the medical mannequins that are equipped with various features, students have the opportunity to acquire skills even before they enter health care facilities.

Besides the improvement and the best possible approach in working with medical mannequins, models of establishing a closer cooperation between the two higher education institutions within the Erasmus+ program, related to the exchange of students, teaching and non-teaching staff, were discussed with Marko Stojiljković. Since October 2022, College of Professional Studies ICEPS is a holder of the Erasmus+ Charter for Higher Education, which opens opportunities for connection and exchange.
