On Saturday, May 17, 2025, in Belgrade, we had the honor of hosting three distinguished academic experts from Albania and Montenegro as part of the International Day event, which was organized by our team for international cooperation through the Erasmus+ project. The event was aimed at students of master professional studies and marked a significant step in strengthening international ties, as well as exchanging knowledge in the fields of public health, education, and economics.

The Erasmus+ International Day offered students a unique opportunity to gain insights into international practices and research through interactive lectures and discussions, as well as to exchange ideas with experts shaping the future of higher education and public health in the region and beyond. The event encouraged reflection on the importance of inter-institutional cooperation and opening up to global academic trends.

Our distinguished guests were:

  • Prof. Dr. Enkeleint Aggelos Mechili, Vice-Rector of the University of Vlora “Ismail Qemali” in Albania and Associate Professor in the Department of Health Care, holds a PhD in Health Policy from the University of Athens. His extensive academic experience includes participation in numerous national and international projects, as well as publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is particularly recognized for his contribution to promoting international cooperation and mobility through the coordination of Erasmus+ projects. His areas of interest include youth mental health, health education, and quality assurance in higher education. Professor Mechili delivered a lecture titled “The Role of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in Health Policy Decision-Making: Measuring the Cost of Health Interventions.”
  • Dr. Jerina Jaho, Assistant Lecturer at the Research Center for Public Health, Faculty of Health, University of Vlora “Ismail Qemali,” has extensive academic and professional experience in microbiology, pathology, and public health. She earned her master’s degree at the University of Medicine in Tirana and is currently pursuing a PhD in Microbiology at the University of “Tor Vergata” in Rome. Dr. Jaho has actively participated in various research projects and is the author or co-author of numerous publications. Her work focuses on cancer prevention, nutrition, public health, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental and physical health. At ICEPS, Dr. Jaho gave a noteworthy lecture titled “The Role of Information and Awareness of Hepatitis B among Medical Faculty Students.”
  • Dr. Nikola Abramović, Associate Professor and Vice Dean for Research and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Business Economics and Law in Bar (Montenegro), is interested in the topics of quality in higher education, human resources, and digital transformation. Dr. Abramović, who has a PhD in Economics,  has participated in Erasmus+ mobility programs in several European countries and is actively involved in accreditation, strategic planning, and curriculum development. He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific papers and textbooks. His contribution to educational reform in Montenegro includes participation in working groups for public policy development. He is also involved in civic initiatives and volunteer work. At the ICEPS event, Professor Abramović held two lectures: “The Importance of Human Resource Management in Healthcare in the Context of Global Changes” and “Human Resources in Health Tourism, with a Focus on Knowledge Management and Organizational Design.”

During their stay at ICEPS in Belgrade and Novi Sad, our guests had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with our educational approach, as well as with the cultural and historical landmarks of our country. They expressed their admiration for the vast green areas in Novi Sad, the size and significance of the Petrovaradin Fortress, and the city center. In Belgrade, they showed great interest in visiting religious sites and the Nikola Tesla Museum, which left a strong impression on them.

The lecturers emphasized the high level of hospitality and organization, the warmth of the hosts, and the opportunity to explore elements of the local culture independently. We will continue our joint activities in the form of workshops that will combine academic perspectives with practical educational approaches. In this respect, the focus will be on exchanging experiences in areas where partner institutions differ — our guests will offer insights into academic research and theoretical approaches, while ICEPS will share its knowledge and methods in practical teaching and preparing students for professional life and the labor market.

We express our deep gratitude to all the guests for their visit, contributions, and the inspiration they gave our students. Encounters like these, realized through Erasmus+ mobility, contribute to our ongoing goal of enhancing education through international cooperation, open dialogue, and an interdisciplinary approach.

We look forward to future meetings and new joint initiatives that will foster the development of knowledge and expertise among our students.
